Spartanburg, SC: Auto Accident at Publix in front of door, near handicapped parking.
Spartanburg, SC: (Opinion) I honestly don't understand what it is about The Hillsdale Parking Center parking lot. Some call it the Publix parking lot. This is not a new property. But it seems to bring out the anger, ignorance and arrogance of normally nice and perfectly normal people.
Drivers, by now should be able to navigate the parking in this parking lot. It is properly lit. There is signage, in English and still drivers get all bent out of shape and ignorant.
Examples; There is no parking in front of the door of the shops. Waving people around your car illegally parked doesn't mean we have enough room to go around you. (You are the problem).
The lane closest to the building is moving toward UPS Store. it is clearly marked "Stop.", and "Do Not Enter." So, the elderly gentlemen driving the Ford Extended Bed huge pickup truck - sorry friend, your not going to fit down this road. (You are the problem.)
That same truck turns right and backs up into oncoming traffic in front of the Brazilian Wax place, I lay on the horn and out comes the "bird", slamming of fists on steering wheel and with all the power and authority of a 10 year old having a tantrum, words are exchanged. I didn't catch them all on camera, but I did catch the fact that black truck driven by an elderly white male with wire rim glasses, nearly backed up into another white pickup truck. The gentlemen, and I use that term loosely, left the scene. (You are the problem.)
If you are driving a Lexus, Mercedes, or other high end auto and you know whom you are and like to make your own parking spaces. Those spaces that are in the shape of boxes, are not sparking spaces and are there to assist handicapped individuals with van access, or the spot does not comply with the shape of a spot, but some of the self-assigned entitled in our community park there to run into Spectrum and enjoy the 45 minute wait or pay their bill in cash.
There is a crossing between the front door and parking lot of Publix, people enter and exit the store - imagine that, so be mindful of that, especially those individuals driving the scooters or wheelchairs. There have been many near-misses between cars and wheelchair bound customers, and if your in a car, your wrong. There is nothing to say. You are the problem. The dumbest thing I ever heard as a response to a near miss of a wheelchair. "It's okay, I'm from Gaffney - I'm high." Just to clarify, yeah. Your the problem. Drive sober.
