COLUMBIA, SC: (News and Opinion) "SC Works Online Services will undergo a period of maintenance on Friday, August 13, from 9:00pm to 10:00pm. You may experience periods of unavailability during this time. If you are a UI claimant, your required weekly job search must be conducted and recorded on the SC Works Online Services account linked to your UI account by SSN. Otherwise, your UI benefits may be impacted." This message is appearing on 8:23 PM on 8/13/2021. It seems curious that this would be going on so close to the cut off deadline for people to get their job searches in.
Unemployment Claimants need to remind themselves to conduct their job searches tonight before 10pm Eastern because once again the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce is playing again playing games and doing all they can to get people off the Unemployment Rolls. First they take money away from VALID, DESERVING Unemployment Claimants who lost their employment out of no fault of their own, but now they are putting one more obstacle in the way for people that were once called front line heroes and essential employees in the war against COVID. If the Department can reduce the Unemployment Rolls, it looks better for the Governor who may run for election. It also looks better because it looks better from a political point of view as it is a selling point to being in new employers. If a DEW person can say "Invest and employ in SC because we have low unemployment and are business friendly, this is important to the special interests.
