This evening travelers were treated to a lightning show as a cell of thunderstorms, hopscotched between North and South Carolina overnight. Spartanburg was spared their near perfect Saturday night as a thunder and lightning could be seen in the distance and humidity climbed.
Mutual Respect
Long haul truckers flashed their side lights to make the four-wheelers aware of the stopped traffic immediately ahead, as Highway Patrol initiated a rolling roadblock overnight directing traffic to the left hand lane between Gaffney and Cowpens. Constructon workers donning yellow rain slickers and caps kept a watchful eye to the sky as they returned to the worksite.
Blue lights from the patrol person's overheads shined on the sides of automobiles and trailers. No one was cursing at each other nor were people rushing to the front to simply merge over. Truckers were being waved in by the smaller cars and the truckers flashed their marker lights to say "thank you."
Weather: Lightning, Wall of Water from
From Spartanburg, SC to Gaffney, SC weather conditions had a few hours but we missed the majority of the thunder and lightning as the rain, thunder and lightning stayed much further North. According to NOAA radar, this cell stretched back to Kentucky and barely dipped its toe into South Carolina. While moving through the area, from Spartanburg to Gaffney it was absolutely noticeable that the humidity that ran thick, like only a Friday night can offer to offer a cool breeze as the barometric pressure changed as the line moved.
