Breaking: Police Activity John B. White Near Camolot Avoid Area

SPARTANBURG, SC: / 3:10 AM an armed attacker described as a black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans, attempted to conduct an armed robbery and carjack a bank customer near John B White and Camelot. The male then started near McDonalds, past Spinx then down Hidden Hill.


By 3:20AM City Police Supervisor reported to McDonalds to assemble law enforcement's response. With the help of nearly all City Police Units, seven County units, including K-9 and Highway, all intersections were closed from John B White (SC 295) and Blackstock Road. A parameditor was formed. 4:00AM: Street by street search


Armed Robbery Defined: SC Code: SECTION 16-3-1075: "A person who commits robbery while armed with a pistol, dirk, slingshot, metal knuckles, razor, or other deadly weapon, or while alleging, either by action or words, he was armed while using a representation of a deadly weapon or any object which a person present during the commission of the robbery reasonably believed to be a deadly weapon, is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, must be imprisoned for a mandatory minimum term of not less than ten years or more than thirty years, no part of which may be suspended or probation granted. "


Carjacking Defined: SC Code 16-3-1075 (2013): (A) "For purposes of this section, "great bodily injury" means bodily injury which creates a substantial risk of death or which causes serious, permanent disfigurement, or protracted loss or impairment of the function of any bodily member or organ."
