Eastern Franklin County in northeastern Georgia...
Northwestern Hart County in northeastern Georgia...
Central Rabun County in northeastern Georgia...
Central Stephens County in northeastern Georgia...
Western Oconee County in upstate South Carolina...
* Until 815 AM EDT.
* At 503 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 3
inches of rain have fallen.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Toccoa, Walhalla, Clayton, Carnesville, Westminster, Reed Creek,
Lavonia, Gumlog, Canon, Mountain City, Bowersville, Tiger, Martin,
Avalon, Tallulah Falls, Tallulah Gorge State Park, Tugaloo State
Park, Oconee State Park, Lakemont and Lake Hartwell.
Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
