HENDERSON...NORTHWESTERN POLK AND SOUTHEASTERN BUNCOMBE COUNTIES...
At 348 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 14 miles north of
Columbus, or over Chimney Rock Village, moving east at 10 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and power lines.
Locations impacted include...
Lake Lure, Chimney Rock Village, Chimney Rock State Park, Bat Cave,
Shingle Hollow, Lake Adger, Mill Spring and Gerton.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Scattered trees and power lines will be blown down in the warned
area. Seek shelter inside an interior room.
Lake Lure is in the path of this storm. Get away from the water and
seek shelter in an interior room in the nearest shelter. If you can
hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
